Have you ever heard about the McDonalds Hot Coffee case? Stella Liebeck of Albuquerque, New Mexico received 3rd degree burns from coffee that spilled on her lap that required skin grafts. All she wanted was for her medical bills to be paid and McDonalds said no let a jury decide. She was forced to go to trial and eventually was awarded damages. She has since become the poster child for the tort reform movement as to what is wrong with our jury system. They like to call it jackpot justice, but it is not.
