Bakersfield, CA (August 18, 2020) – Police in Bakersfield have identified the man who lost his life in a two-vehicle collision Thursday in the Southwest Bakersfield area. Just before 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, August 13, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle crash on Berkshire Road.

According to preliminary investigations from the Bakersfield Police Department, 30-year-old Michael Paul Brashear was driving in a silver sedan near the 3100 block of Berkshire Road when a pickup truck crashed into his vehicle head-on near Greenland Way. Brashear sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Emergency crews responded to the scene of the accident and declared the victim deceased at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was injured in the accident. Medical personnel rendered treatment to the injured driver at the scene of the accident before transporting them to a local hospital for further treatment of injuries.

Police immediately secured the site of the crash on Berkshire Road near Greenland Way and began investigating to determine the cause of the crash. At this time, investigations surrounding the accident are ongoing.
