Pedestrian Accidents in California
Pedestrian accidents in the state of California send thousands of people to area hospitals with life-changing injuries. In many cases, victims are left with broken bones or they suffer brain injuries that cause them overwhelming pain and suffering. There are many instances where car accidents are caused by the actions of other motorists. These accidents can include people texting or using cellphones while driving, drunk driving, speeding, ignoring traffic control devices, and engaging in unsafe driving behaviors. In fact, the negligent and reckless actions of motorists account for nearly 80% of all accidents in the state of California each year. Regardless of the laws and rules in place to protect pedestrians and others sharing the road, we continue to see them harmed at an alarming rate.
Many injured pedestrians require hospitalization and have to spend months going back and forth to treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation. Although there are several treatment options available for victims, they come at an extraordinary cost. Many people are simply unable to afford the costs of care, which forces them to go without the assistance they need to recover. In some cases, victims can work with a pedestrian accident attorney in California in the aftermath of their accidents to make sure they are in the best position possible to recover.
