Bakersfield, CA – One Killed, Two Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Comanche Dr at Sunset Blvd
Bakersfield, CA (April 16, 2021) – Officers say that a 19-year-old motorcycle driver was killed after a wreck with a 2004 Chevy Suburban that occurred on Thursday afternoon, April 15.
Police were dispatched to the scene around 1:43 p.m. The wreck occurred on Comanche Drive, north of Sunset Boulevard, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The report states that the Suburban driver was stopped on the right shoulder of southbound Comanche Drive while towing a utility trailer. The driver then attempted to make a U-turn, putting his vehicle directly in the path of a 2010 Kawasaki EX250J that was traveling south on Comanche Drive.
The motorcycle collided with the Suburban and the driver was ejected from the motorcycle, the report says.
The motorcycle driver sustained major injuries and was transported to Kern Medical Center via ambulance for treatment. The motorcyclist later succumbed to their injuries. Both the driver of the Suburban and his passenger sustained minor to moderate injuries, the report says. They were also transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
The motorcyclist’s identity has not been released, and the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
