Antioch, CA – Fatal Traffic Crash on Somersville Rd near SR-4 Takes 1 Life, Injures 4 Others
Antioch, CA (June 1, 2021) – A fatal car accident claimed the life of one person and injured four others on a roadway in Antioch on Tuesday, May 25. At approximately 12:30 p.m., officials responded to a call concerning the wreck on Somersville Road.
Sources indicate that the incident took place on Somersville Road near State Route 4 when authorities were assisting a driver who was stranded. Police noticed a speeding vehicle while they were working to assist the stranded driver.
The vehicle reportedly approached the intersection of Delta Fair Boulevard, veered into oncoming traffic, and became involved in a head-on crash with another car headed south on Somersville. The impact of the wreck forced the first car into another vehicle also heading south on Somersville.
Reports indicate that four people sustained injuries in the multi-car collision, while another one lost their life at the scene. Officers with the Antioch Police Department identified the injured as one 22-year-old woman, one 40-year-old man, a 56-year-old woman, and a 78-year-old man, all of Antioch.
The decedent was identified as a female, aged 68, who was a passenger in one of the three involved vehicles. The names of the victims have not been released to the public at this time.
