Bakersfield, CA (July 18, 2021) – A multi-car accident occurred on a highway in Bakersfield that took one life and injured one other. According to information from officials, the wreck occurred on Highway 99 on July 16.

Information from reports states that the crash occurred between a Ford and a Toyota while the Ford was stopped at a construction bypass lane. A Toyota and a Honda were following behind while an incoming Dodge failed to slow down in time and rear-ended the Honda.

Consequently, all four vehicles were involved in a collision. The driver of the Dodge, identified as a 72-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Medical personnel transported the driver of the Honda to Kern Medical center for the treatment of minor injuries. According to information provided by officials, no other injuries were reported.

Officials in Bakersfield continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. More details will be provided when made available.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this time.

Bakersfield Car Wrecks

Victims and their family members may suffer lasting impacts from vehicle collisions. More than 450,000 traffic accidents occur in the Golden State each year. Although we hope that everyone walks away from a crash scene unscathed, this is not often the case. Vehicle collisions throughout California end the lives of over 3,200 people each year, and more than 270,000 sustain injuries. Unfortunately, a large percentage of these collisions are the result of driver negligence. Some forms of driver negligence include reckless driving, speeding, impaired driving, fatigued driving, and more. Driver negligence accounts for more than 94% of all car crashes in the United States every year.
