Bakersfield, CA – Alfonso Gaspar and Denise Rivera Identified as Victims of Fatal Crash on Weedpatch Hwy at Smith Rd
Bakersfield, CA (November 29, 2021) – The coroner’s office has identified two of three people who died in a fatal two-vehicle accident on Weedpatch Highway on Friday, November 26th.
58-year-old Alfonso Arbaca Gaspar, a resident of Maricopa, and 31-year-old Denise Melinda Rivera, a resident of Bakersfield, both died at the scene at the intersection of Weedpatch Highway and Smith Road.
A third person who was killed in the crash had not yet been identified.
38-year-old Marcia Luqueleyson sustained serious injuries and was transported to Kern Medical where she was placed under arrest for drunk driving.
According to California Highway Patrol, Luqueleyson was driving a Jeep Cherokee southbound on the highway at about 2:30 a.m. when she swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-first with a Toyota Corolla driven by Gaspar.
Rivera and the unidentified victim were both passengers in the Jeep.
