Turlock, CA – Fatal Crash Takes 1 Life, Injures 1 Other on Hwy 99 near W Monte Vista Ave
Turlock, CA (November 21, 2021) – Police officers in Turlock were dispatched to the scene of a fatal auto accident in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 21. Reports indicate that a vehicle went off the roadway and down an embankment, taking one life and seriously injuring one other.
The wreck happened on Highway 99 at West Monte Vista Avenue when an SUV, identified as a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, was traveling in the middle northbound lane when for unknown reasons it veered right and went off the east side of the roadway.
The SUV traveled down an embankment, overturned, and landed on its roof, according to information from police. The driver was ejected onto the Monte Vista on-ramp. He was transported to Emanuel Medical Center where he later lost his life. He was identified as Luis Rudolfo Mojarro of Lodi, age 29.
His passenger, 21-year-old Fernando Herrera, also of Lodi, suffered major injuries in the accident including broken ribs, scapula, back, right hand, and a possible skull fracture. He was transported from the scene to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto to be treated for his injuries.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident and whether or not negligence played a role.
