Fresno, CA – Fresno Police Officer Hospitalized After Crash near Shaw Ave & El Capitan Ave
Fresno, CA (December 24, 2021) – A car wreck in northwest Fresno left a police officer with injuries on Thursday, December 23. Just before 9:00 p.m., the incident occurred near Shaw Avenue and El Capitan Avenue.
Police say the officer was in his cruiser blocking one of the westbound lanes of Shaw Avenue due to a pothole. Many drivers had previously complained of flat tires due to the hole.
While he was in his car on the roadway, authorities report that a 32-year-old named Valentin Uribe rear-ended him. The trooper was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with injuries.
Uribe was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and stated that he had a prior DUI conviction from May. Authorities also noted that he had been driving with a suspended license.
