Pedestrian Accidents in California

An average of 6,000 pedestrians are killed annually in car accidents nationwide. About 15% of these pedestrian deaths happen right here in California. While legislators work diligently to enact laws designed to protect pedestrians as they share roadways with drivers, the nation’s pedestrian fatality rate continues to rise. Pedestrians are struck daily by vehicles driven by distracted, impaired, angry, and reckless drivers.

You may be extremely vigilant in obeying the law and being mindful of those around you, but there is no guarantee that other drivers are going to show you the same consideration.

Any car accident can cause serious or fatal injuries to those involved. Pedestrians involved in accidents are at a much higher risk of being injured since they are completely vulnerable to the weight and speed of the striking vehicle.
