Sacramento, CA (January 20, 2022) – A head-on collision on Highway 16 in Sacramento County sent two people to the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol’s East Sacramento office.

A crash occurred at 6:35 a.m. just east of Latrobe Road on Jackson Road. Highway 16 was blocked by a Chevy Malibu behind a school bus heading east, the CHP reported. After passing the school bus over solid double yellow lines, the Malibu hit a westbound Chevy Spark head-on.

After the Spark overturned in the roadway, debris hit a Chevy Silverado that was traveling westbound behind the Spark, according to CHP. There were no students or drivers on the bus when the Malibu hit it.

The driver of the Malibu and Spark was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. Both the Silverado driver and school bus driver were not hurt.

After the crash, all lanes of Highway 16 were closed, but they have since been reopened.

The CHP reminded motorists not to pass over solid double yellow lines following the accident.
