Paso Robles, CA – Highway 46 crash east of Paso Robles injures 8
PASO ROBLES, Calif (February 24, 2022) – A three-car crash east of Paso Robles on Highway 46 injured eight people, according to the California Highway Patrol. It happened at River Grove Drive and Highway 46 at 7:50 p.m. Saturday. The westbound lanes of Highway 46 were closed for several hours.
Maria Garcia De Arteaga. 49, from Pahrump, Nevada, was driving a 2000 Honda CR-V with three unrestrained passengers. She was traveling southbound on River Grove Drive toward Highway 46. Sarah Juarez Haro, 24, of Tulare, was traveling west on Highway 46 near River Grove Drive in a 2017 Toyota Corolla.
Garcia De Artega failed to notice the Toyota heading westbound as she entered Highway 46 at about 20 mph. Her Honda was struck on the driver’s side by the Toyota. Mauro Jiminez was traveling westbound on Highway 46 in a 2007 Chevrolet Uplander when he collided with the Honda CR-V. The resulting spin-out caused the three unrestrained passengers to be ejected on to the roadway. Garcia De Arteaga and her passengers in the Honda were all critically injured. Sarah Juarez Haro and a passenger in the Toyota were both seriously injured. Garcia De Arteaga was airlifted to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. The other victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Both Jiminez and a passenger received minor injuries and were taken to Twin Cities Community Hospital. Both crashes were not caused by alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving, according to the CHP.
