Bakersfield, CA – The pedestrian who died in an east Bakersfield hit-and-run has been identified
BAKERSFIELD, CA – On May 6, a semi-truck struck and killed 52-year-old Gina Rebecca Castaneda on Niles Street and Fairfax Road in Kern County.
CHP says a semi-truck driver fled after a hit-and-run crash in east Bakersfield Friday night, killing a woman.
At around 8:30 p.m., a crash occurred near Niles Street and Fairfax Road.
According to CHP officers on the scene, the semi-truck driver was driving eastbound on Fairfax, trying to turn right onto Niles, when he struck the woman who was in the crosswalk at the time.
She died as a result of her injuries. Eyewitness News crews were told the victim was a woman who frequented the area.
The suspect vehicle is described only as a white semi-truck by investigators.
