Kings County, CA – Ten-year-old girl killed in Kings County canal crash
KINGS COUNTY, CA – According to the CHP, a 10-year-old girl was murdered in a crash into a Kings County canal when the driver of the car she was riding in neglected to pass a semi-truck.
The collision was initially reported along Quebec Avenue and Highway 41 at 3:40 p.m. According to police, a 45-year-old lady was driving a car that tried to pass a semi-truck in front of her but was unable to do so in time. She veered to the right and into the canal that was next to Highway 41 in order to avoid colliding head-on with an approaching car.
The canal was reportedly full of water at the time of the collision, and the car quickly sank, according to the CHP. The other two passengers, a 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old man, were later declared dead, but the driver was saved from the car by a witness who stopped.
The driver is still hospitalized in critical condition. The other two occupants of the car have not had their names publicly disclosed.
