Tulare, CA – A Man Died After Crashing Into a Box Truck in Tulare County
TULARE, Calif (December 16, 2021) – According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver died in Tulare County after crashing into a box truck on Thursday morning.
Visalia CHP officers responded to a traffic collision around 3:30 a.m. on Road 112 south of Avenue 164. An International box truck was driving southbound on Road 112 south of Avenue 164 with a Toyota sedan traveling at a high rate of speed “directly behind” it when the crash occurred.
CHP says that the Toyota driver was unable to avoid striking the rear of the International due to its unsafe speed. The driver of the Toyota sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. According to authorities, the box truck driver sustained a minor injury to his back, but was not transported to the hospital.
Officials with the California Highway Patrol say alcohol hasn’t been ruled out as a cause of the crash, and the cause is still unclear.
