Riverside, CA – Prisoners Injured When Car Collides With Transport Van at Riverside Intersection

Torem & Associates

Riverside, CA (January 29, 2022) – A driver from Southern California was taken into custody following an accident that caused a Riverside County sheriff’s prisoner transport van carrying an officer and three arrestees to overturn on Friday, January 28th.

The accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at an intersection in downtown Riverside when the sheriff’s van entered an intersection and was struck by a Honda CR-V that failed to stop at a red light.

The driver of the Honda fled the scene but not before its front bumper, complete with a license plate, fell off the vehicle. The damaged Honda also left behind a fluid trail which officers were able to follow, leading to the arrest of the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run.

The four occupants of the van sustained non-critical injuries and were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
