Merced, CA – Hit-and-run crash in Merced leaves two pedestrians hospitalized

MERCED, CA (March 01, 2022) – Merced police report that two people were hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Wednesday night. Police were called to the area of M and 12th streets around 7:45 p.m. after it was reported that two pedestrians had been hit by a car.

Two people were found lying in the roadway with moderate injuries when police arrived. Both pedestrians were rushed to a local hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.

Officials say the driver who struck the pedestrians drove away from the scene without ever stopping to check on them or calling for help.

Police say that after speaking with witnesses, they learned that a driver in a 4-door car struck the victims before continuing northbound.

Witnesses told officers that the suspect’s car had damage to the right bumper and headlight.
